September /October Workshops

These silk collages will be the topic of workshops to be held over 4 Mondays in September/ October 2010. Margaret Steeden will lead the sessions and the aim is to discover how to use up leftover white silk creatively

The new format of meetings will begin after the AGM on the 24th September at St Martins promptly at 8pm, when there will be the usual excellent supper organised by Anne. Apologises to Rita please. We will no longer have Friday night meetings, instead there will be a regular series of workshops on monday afternoons led by members.

SILK-n-THREADS

As a group of 30+ textile artists in Marple, Stockport, UK, we share a love of silk painting & creative work that includes embroidery, batik, and mixed media techniques. Our weekly meetings include listening to visiting speakers and workshops on such topics as silk painting techniques, Nuno felt making, marbling on silk, indigo and shibori dyeing. Our programme is mixed and varied and also utilises the expertise we have within the group.

Several of our members are also members of the Cheshire Guild of Silk Painters a branch of the International Guild of Silk Painters & the Embroidery Guild.
We successfully exhibit locally several times a year.
